A note from Shubham sir
I struggled with the newspaper too. Two hours a day, and by evening I could not tell you what I had read. If that is you right now, nothing is wrong with you. The method is wrong.
Here is what works:
Read with the syllabus in mind. Before every article, ask which GS paper it belongs to. If you cannot answer in five seconds, read the headline and move on.
Skip what UPSC does not ask. Political statements, crime, sports scores, party news. That alone removes half the paper.
Give editorials the most time. News tells you what happened; editorials tell you why it matters and what comes next. That is a Mains answer. Spend 20 of your 45 minutes here.
Mark only two kinds of lines. A fact that can become an MCQ option, and a sentence that explains a cause or a consequence. Everything else is decoration.
Write 50 words before you close the paper. Pick one article and write what it was about, from memory. If you cannot, you read it but did not learn it.
Read the second paper for what the first missed. The Hindu and The Indian Express overlap on most stories. Read the second one for new angles, not repeats.
The rankers I have mentored did not read more than you. They read less, read better, and read every single day. Consistency beats intensity here.
Which of these do you already follow? Tell me in the comments 👇
If you want even those 45 minutes back, that is why we built Newspaper Snippets at Aspirants Hub:

🏆 Every test you write, discussed one to one with Rudresh sir.
Most test series hand you a score and walk away. In GeoPrism, your copy comes back in 48 hours, and then you sit with the faculty himself to see exactly where the marks went.

🧩 Case Study Templates + Answer Writing Learnings | Sakshi Jain, AIR 37 (CSE 2025)
Two small files that fix two big problems:
📎 Ethics case study templates: ready structures she prepared, so you never stare at a case study wondering where to start
📎 Answer writing learnings: what she learned, written down by a ranker
The speciality: most notes give you content. These give you a structure. In the exam, structure is what saves time.
💡 How to use: take one Ethics case study PYQ, apply her template in 10 minutes, then compare it with your old answer. Same content, better structure, more marks.
