🇨🇦 BUSINESS IMMIGRATION EXPLAINER — SOURCE OF FUNDS
Can you prove where your investment money came from?
• Officers and provinces expect a documented, lawful source of funds and net worth
• Acceptable trails: savings, sale of assets or a company, business income, documented gifts
• A large recent deposit with no explanation is a red flag
• Start collecting records before you choose a program, not after
Takeaway: build your paper trail before you build your file.
Questions? We're always glad to talk it through: sobirovs.com
• LMIA is no longer required for qualifying job offers, and IRCC's genuineness check replaces it
• High-wage NOC: up to +100 points for a job offer or +70 for Canadian experience (whichever is higher)
• Draws pause for several weeks while IRCC recalculates scores
• Category draws (healthcare, trades, French) continue

🇨🇦 BUSINESS IMMIGRATION UPDATE: BC PNP ENTREPRENEUR DRAW, OCTOBER 20, 2026
• Base stream: 10 invitations, minimum score 118
• Regional pilot: fewer than 5 invitations, minimum score 118
• Down one point from 119 on September 22
• Cut-offs have sat in the 116 to 119 range since August
• Score is BC's own registration score, not the federal CRS
What it means: with only about 10 invitations per round, a strong plan and documented funds matter as much as the score itself.

Moving a key employee to Canada? Where they apply from changes the timeline more than most companies expect.
IRCC's posted processing times for a work permit applied for from outside Canada (October 14, 2026 update):
🇺🇸 United States: 6 weeks (it was 2 weeks in late August)
🇬🇧 United Kingdom: 4 weeks
🇮🇳 India: 11 weeks (up from 9)
But the posted number is only part of the story:
→ US and UK citizens can often apply for an Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) work permit at the Canadian border, where a well-prepared file is usually decided the same day.
→ Indian citizens must apply online and usually need biometrics and an upfront medical exam, which IRCC does not count in its posted time. Plan for longer than 11 weeks.
→ If the role is TEER 0 or 1, the Global Skills Strategy targets about 2 weeks for a complete online application. That is a service target, not a guarantee.
