Well, Italy is Italy. Hot, humid. The roads are interesting, but only on the first loop. On the second loop, it turns into hell. If you’re going faster than about 40 km/h, you’re basically driving in a constant light knockout state. So, business as usual. Yeah, it was +44 during the day. The air conditioning helps, but not much.
Otherwise, Italy stays true to itself. Today there were cars in ditches, cars hanging in trees, a Toyota burned down. Just like at the toughest events.
The only unpleasant thing, probably, is that the organizers tried a new tracking device, which for some reason didn’t work. As far as I know, at least half of the competitors had issues—it didn’t work in speed limit zones, didn’t record tracking points, and didn’t function during neutralization. I don’t know what the stewards will decide about this now. There are some questions—we’re waiting for their decision.
