Ex-Nairobi Water Driver Ordered to Pay KSh 7.54 Million Over Fake KCSE Certificate: A former driver at Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company has been ordered to pay KSh 7.54 million after the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court convicted him of using a forged KCSE certificate to secure the job. Kelly Gichuri Muiruri was found guilty on four counts: fraudulent acquisition of public property, uttering a false document, deceiving a principal, and presenting a forged certificate. He was acquitted of the separate charge of forgery itself. The court established that he presented a 2002 KCSE certificate showing a mean grade of C plain, while his actual grade was D plain. He used the document to get employed as a driver in 2016 and continued working until December 2023. Magistrate Celesa Okore ordered him to refund KSh 6,742,673 in salaries earned during that period or serve four years in prison if he fails to pay. He was also fined a total of KSh 800,000 across the four counts.

Woman’s Body Recovered from Eastleigh Rubble on Day Eight: Rescue teams have recovered the body of a woman from the rubble of the collapsed multi-storey building in Eastleigh, Nairobi, on the eighth day of the search operation. The body was retrieved after rescuers gained access to the basement area. Officials said it was badly crushed by concrete and debris, making visual identification difficult. It was taken to City Mortuary, where DNA testing will be conducted to confirm the identity. The 18-storey building, which was still under construction along 9th Street, collapsed on October 23. At least 15 to 16 people remain unaccounted for, according to the latest verification by the Kenya Red Cross and DCI. Phone data had earlier placed nine of the missing persons at the site shortly before the collapse. Authorities say about 85 per cent of the debris has been cleared, with efforts still focused on the lower sections. The operation continues as both a search for possible survivors and a recovery mission.
