THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING DEEP ROOTS IN JESUS Have the roots [of your being] firmly and deeply planted [in Him, fixed and founded in Him], being continually built up in Him, becoming increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and abounding and overflowing in it with thanksgiving. (Colossians 2:7, AMP) Deep roots in God give constant spiritual nourishment, longevity and staying power. A believer whose roots are deep in God produces fruits in both favourable and hostile circumstances, in and out of season. Their productivity is not connected to the polluted and unstable resources of their environment. They blossom without blemish in the world’s desert of corruption. They are not restricted by the earth’s resources; their deep roots in God connect them to heaven’s resources in their entirety. So that when the enemy decides to go on rampage and bruise the delicate balance of the earth’s resources, they are never stranded because their nourishment comes directly from the inexhaustible reserves of heaven. They prosper in drought, thrive in famine, glow in darkness, wax strong under impossible adversities and multiply in the face death.
