📉The coverage rates for all children at one year of age decreased by 0.10 percentage points to 93.16% compared to the four quarters to Sept 2023. Coverage for local areas varies. But amidst these statistics, questions linger...

In 2022 we experienced our highest excess death rate since World War Two and it's not all Covid.

When I first came to the Senate 2 years ago I made it a goal of mine to get to the bottom of this issue. So I got to work on securing an inquiry into the excess deaths phenomenon. After five motions on the issue, my fifth motion has succeeded in finally convincing the Senate to investigate why to this day more Australians are dying than ever before.

On 26 March 2024, the Senate referred the issue of Excess Mortality to the Senate Community Affairs References Committee for inquiry and report by 31 August 2024.

The committee is now accepting submissions. The last day for submissions will be on 26 April 2024.

This is far from a perfect inquiry but at least it's a start.

Thank you to everyone that has supported my work. May this committee process give a voice to the family members of the deceased and deliver some of the answers that our nation so desperately needs.
