🚨 Media outlets have revealed details about Nicolás Maduro’s detention in a Brooklyn prison under a “special isolation regime.”
According to journalists, the Venezuelan president — reportedly detained by U.S. authorities — is being held in a cell so small it has been compared to a compact office elevator. Spanish newspaper ABC reports that Maduro is currently placed in solitary confinement, a cell measuring only about six square meters.
The conditions are extremely basic: a metal bed, a sink, a toilet, and a narrow window that barely lets in daylight.
The strictest restriction concerns movement. Maduro is allowed to leave the cell only three times per week, for just one hour each time. Even then, it is not a normal outdoor walk. During that hour, the inmate must choose between getting some air in a small prison yard or taking a shower.
Under close supervision, he is also allowed to check email or make a phone call.
Officially, such cells are used to isolate violent inmates, protect prisoners who may be at risk, or prevent suicide. ⚖️
