UN Ambassador, Saeid Iravani: Attack Was in Self-Defence

Ambassador Iravani:

"The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran carried out a series of military strikes on Israeli military objectives with dozens of missiles and drones. Iran's operation was entirely in the exercise of Iran's inherent right to self-defense as outlined in Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations and recognized by international law.

This concluded action was necessary and proportionate. It was precise and only targeted military objectives and carried out carefully to minimize the potential for escalation and prevent civilian harm. These countries, especially the United States, have shielded Israel from any responsibility for the Gaza massacre.

While they have denied Iran the inherent right to self-defense against the Israeli armed attack on our diplomatic premises, at the same time, they shamefully justified the Israeli massacre and genocide against the defenseless Palestinian people under the pretext of self-defense. Iran is never seeking to contribute to the spillover of the conflict in the region, nor does it escalate or spread the tension to the entire region."

IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari Statement:

"99% of the 300 or so projectiles fired by Iran at Israel overnight were intercepted by air defenses.

He says Iran launched 170 drones at Israel, and not one entered Israeli airspace. They were all downed outside of the country's borders by Israel and its allies.
Another 30 cruise missiles were launched, and not a single one entered Israeli airspace, he says. 25 of them were downed by the Israeli Air Force, according to Hagari.

In addition, Hagari says Iran fired 120 ballistic missiles at Israel. Some of the missiles managed to bypass Israel's defenses, hitting the Nevatim Airbase in southern Israel.

Hagari says slight damage was caused to the infrastructure at Nevatim, but the airbase is running as usual.

Additionally, he says a handful of drones and missiles were launched from Iraq and Yemen amid the attack, although none entered Israeli airspace.
