This day in history is the First spacewalk.

On March 18, 1965, Alexey Leonov went out through the gateway of the Voskhod-2 spacecraft and became the first person to travel in outer space.

There were some adventures - due to the pressure difference, Leonov's spacesuit was inflated, which made it very difficult to return to the station. I had to act contrary to all instructions - the cosmonaut manually lowered the pressure and was in such a hurry to get back that he did not close the hatch and did not check the compartment for tightness.

The average rent is $27 per month.
A movie ticket is 25 cents.

Sugar - 59 cents per 4.5 kg.
Milk - 50 cents for 3.75 liters.
Coffee - 39 cents per 0.5 kg.

This day in history - and you, Brutus!

On March 15, 44 BC, Gaius Julius Caesar was assassinated as a result of a conspiracy.

There are many myths associated with this event, as well as with the life of Caesar. Firstly, Caesar was not killed in the Senate building - it had long since burned down, and a new one was just being built. Secondly, Caesar defeated Gaul quite casually, no matter what Asterix and Obelix showed you. Thirdly, the last words of the appeal to Brutus, if not surprised, but cursing, Caesar threatened his Brother, hinting that he would be next. But he didn't have time to finish.

Brutus, by the way, did not become the next. Simply because he did not have time to get power either - the future Emperor Octavian Augustus moved him quite casually. However, as well as all other competitors for Caesar's inheritance.

Comfort Women: Sexual Slavery for Japanese Army Officers and soldiers

Many Korean grandmothers who were in Japanese sexual slavery, after the escape of the Japanese, ashamed of their past and afraid of the condemnation of others and relatives, preferred death or life in seclusion, keeping this terrible secret. The Japanese are trying to somehow justify the actions of the Japanese military by distorting the facts, and hope that every year these grandmothers become fewer and fewer and this page of history will be forgotten forever. Korea even organizes symposiums and conferences, which are held by young activists from Korea, China, the Philippines, etc.the affected countries to remind of those terrible events.

In 1997, Frederic Bourdain, a 23-year-old French fraudster, posed as Nicholas Barclay, a missing 16-year-old Texas boy.

Nicholas was a troubled teenager and often disappeared from home. At 13, he left and disappeared for 3 years. Before showing up after the phone call. Three years is a long time, so few people were surprised by the roughness in the teenager's story. The main thing is that the tattoos converged and the guy behaved the same way.

It was only six months later that everyone realized that it was not Nicholas who returned, but Frederick Bourdain, nicknamed Chameleon. He has more than 500 cases of identity theft and an Interpol search to his credit.

And the real Nick has still not been found - the Chameleon claimed that his own parents killed him. And the parents, in turn, believe that their son was killed by Frederick to replace himself.

A suicide photo of Princess Diana.

For 10 years, no one could dare to post this picture. And with his appearance, the word "paparazzi" became abusive. The person who took this picture was accused of not trying to help. He was taking pictures.

This day in history is the bombing of Tokyo.

On the night of March 9-10, 1945, 334 B-29 bombers conducted a carpet bombing of the capital of Japan. Each of the planes dropped several tons of incendiary ammunition and napalm - a fire that started in areas with wooden buildings destroyed 330 thousand homes.

A million people were left homeless, 100,000 died, and General Curtis Lemay, who led the bombing, honestly admitted that if the United States had lost the war, he would have been hanged as a war criminal.

In fact, Tokyo suffered even more than Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It's just that the bombs were not dropped on him by nuclear ones, so the episode is widely unknown.

Видео/гифка, 91 сек,

Hemingway has survived skin cancer, anthrax, anemia, malaria, diabetes, hepatitis and pneumonia. He survived two plane crashes. His kidney and spleen were ruptured, the base of his skull was broken – the vertebra successfully fused, allowing him to avoid paralysis. Not a year went by that he didn't get a concussion. In the last years of his life, he plunged into a deep depression.

It seemed to him that FBI agents were watching him, phones were tapped, bugs were everywhere, mail was being read, bank accounts were being monitored...

He was treated for depression with electric shock, after 13 sessions he lost his memory and could no longer write. On July 2, 1961, Hemingway shot himself.

In the early 1980s, a Freedom of Information Act request was made to the FBI. The FBI's response: there was surveillance, phones were tapped, there were bugs, mail was read, bank accounts were monitored.

Nirja Bhanot is a 22-year-old flight attendant who refused to panic.

In 1986, terrorists hijacked a Boeing 747 while landing at Karachi Airport. The crew managed to leave the ship and the terrorists could not implement the initial plan with a terrorist attack in Israel. Instead, they ordered the flight attendant to collect the passengers' passports in order to identify the Americans and shoot them.

Bhanot hid the identities of all the Americans on the flight by hiding and discarding their passports. And later, when Pakistani special forces stormed the plane, she opened the doors of the plane. But she did not escape, but helped the surviving passengers to evacuate.

In the process, protecting the children with her body, Nirja died. Every year, in honor of the girl, an award is given to a member of the flight crew who shows heroism during work.

Zopyrus is a Persian nobleman who cut off his nose and ears in order to...Capture Babylon.

Zopyrus was a close associate of the Persian king Darius I. One day, in this form, he came to him for an audience and outlined an ingenious plan - to come to Babylon and introduce himself as a man whom Darius had tortured half to death. Darius himself was noticeably stunned, but agreed with the plan.

Zopyrus was indeed allowed into Babylon, listened to his story and was given a job. Being a military genius, Zopyrus quickly became the commander-in-chief of Babylon... and, unnoticed by others, weakened its defenses.

Darius's troops captured Babylon and Zopyrus became its satrap.

Anita Ekberg was a Swedish actress and archery professional.

In 1960, Anita was followed by annoying paparazzi. They were not distracted by requests to stay behind, so Ekberg took a bow out of the car and shot one.

Eventually, Anita lived to be 83 and never faced paparazzi problems again.

Brooklyn Supreme – the biggest horse in history, 1930

The Supreme belonged to a breed of Belgian heavy trucks. The suit is red-roan. The horse was 199 cm tall and weighed 1,450 kg. It is 16 times bigger than the average person and about as big as the average car.

The Supreme was lucky – despite his size, he managed to avoid hard work.
They earned money on a horse just by putting it on display. The audience was ready to pay 10 cents per spectacle (translated into modern money, taking into account inflation, this is 150 rubles). And several times more for a joint photo.

The horse lived a long life for a horse at that time – 20 years. And in the photo he is only two years old.

In 1938, Walt Disney became a star after the release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

After making a profit, Walt bought his parents a house in Hollywood. After moving in, my mother constantly complained about the strange smell from the oven. Disney called the workers, but they found nothing over and over again.

Later, the maid found Flora and Elias Disney lying on the floor after the furnace exploded. They were helped, but Walt's mother died and his father lasted only three years.

A professional check showed that the oven was indeed defective. Disney did not talk about his parents for the rest of his life and went through this event very hard.
